Cottonwood Palo Verde is comprised of 3,809 homes encompassing some 1120 acres. Residents can play the par 72 championship golf course at Cottonwood and the par 62 executive course at Palo Verde. The tennis club provides an opportunity for players of all skill levels to play on one of the seven tennis courts. Cottonwood PaloVerde amenities also include pickleball, racquetball, a state-of-the-art fitness activity center, and several pools (lap pool, children’s pool, and 3 swimming pools).
Palo Verde has two indoor racquetball courts, a community park with bocce ball courts, a nine-hole putting green, horseshoes, a basketball hoop, and a ramada. Built between 1972-2002, the original Sun Lakes Country Club includes 2,139 mobile homes and traditional houses surrounding an executive golf course. Only Sun Lakes #1 Country Club has mobile homes available. Sun Lakes #1 features the private Sun Lakes Par 60 executive course. The 18-hole "Sun Lakes" course features 3,811 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 60. The course rating is 55.1 and it has a slope rating of 99 on Bermuda grass.

Several of the Sun Lakes routes also make connections to the METRO light rail traveling in Phoenix, Tempe, and Mesa. Route maps, schedules for bus and light rail service are available on their website. The nearest major airport is Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport located about 10 miles to the east in South Mesa. Sky Harbor International Airport is only about 30 minutes away, as is Old Town Scottsdale, Downtown Phoenix, Downtown Gilbert, and Downtown Tempe.
