City of Scottsdale Overview 

Located in Maricopa County, Arizona, the city of Scottsdale officially uses the slogan "The West's Most Western Town. With a 2020 population of around 265,249, Scottsdale is the 5th largest city in Arizona and the 82nd largest in the U.S. Most of the workforce of Scottsdale is in the tourism industry. The city has one of the highest numbers of AAA Five-Diamond hotels and resorts in the country and is home to many renowned spas and resorts including the Four Seasons Scottsdale and Canyon Suites. Scottsdale's climate, as well as retail facilities, dining, nightlife, and more than 50 golf courses, are what attract visitors from all over. There are many top employers within the city, including Honor Health, CVS Health, Scottsdale Unified School District, Vanguard, and the City of Scottsdale.

Scottsdale is loosely divided into four areas: Old Town (Downtown) Scottsdale, South Scottsdale, Central Scottsdale (Shea Corridor), and North Scottsdale. Old Town features boutique shopping, restaurants, nightlife and is home to a number of galleries, the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, the Scottsdale's Museum of the West. The master-planned community of McCormick Ranch has a history dating back over 40 years. It started as a horse ranch, known for the raising of Arabian horses. Now, McCormick Ranch is a desirable family-friendly area with shopping centers, churches, health care facilities, and hotels. Residents enjoy a number of parks, multiple lakes, and picturesque views of the mountains. Paradise Valley Unified School District is a large public school district that provides educational opportunities for a small portion of Scottsdale. With 30 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, and 5 high schools, the district provides students with several different alternative programming options, including a S.T.E.M. program, an International Baccalaureate program, and a Digital Learning Center. Many of the charter schools in Scottsdale receive high rankings and are an option for those who are looking for an alternative to the traditional public school system.
