1.Ocotillo. From lush fairways to cascading waterfalls, Ocotillo Resort is one of the most popular and exclusive Chandler golf course communities. Golf Digest named the course one of the “Best Places to Play” for 2008-2009 and Golf World Magazine named the course “One of Arizona’s Best” in 2010. The course received the AGM Platinum Award in 2013 and 2014. Designed by renowned course architect Ted Robinson, the 27-hole course is a challenging but rewarding course for longtime golfers.
Thanks to Ocotillo’s popularity as one of the best courses in Chandler, a number of different golf course communities are located nearby offering a host of amenities, spectacular mountain views, and course easy access. Spyglass Bay, for example, overlooks the 27-hole course with magnificent sunset views of the San Tan mountains and spectacular lakefront views along the course. The single-family homes are popular with active retirees as all homes feature a single level floor plan for mobility ease and convenience.

2. Solera Springfield Lakes.Lone Tree is a semi-private traditional golf course designed by Darryl Wilson in the heart of Chandler. From the meticulously manicured greens to the stunning views of the San Tan Mountains in the background, Lone Tree is one of the most popular golf courses that does not cost a small fortune to play on each time. Several golf communities are located near the course, including the Lone Tree by Pulte Homes, a 55+ active community. The Del Web designed Solera in Chandler is another popular 55+ active community with 1,149 homes overlooking the Lone Tree golf course. Solera Chandler is a gated community with amenities that include sports courts, pools, and a fitness center, as well as easy access to the 18-hole part 71 Lone Tree course.
3. SunBird Golf Resort.SunBird is a gated, 320-acre 55+ active retirement community centered around the 18-hole, par 66 golf course. The SunBird Golf Club is a semi-private club that allows residents to purchase memberships and enjoy discounted greens fees. Originally envisioned as an upscale mobile home retirement community for seniors in the 1980s, the property was redeveloped a decade later to include a mix of mobile lots and permanent homes. With the mobile lots, homeowners still own both the lot and the structure (there are no lease fees). SunBird Golf Resort is located along Riggs Road, which is sometimes nicknamed “Retirement Road” because of the multiple active living retirement communities, including Solera Chandler, Sun Lakes, and Springfield Resort.

Springfield Resort.This gated, 55+ active retirement community consists of 742 single family homes built in the late 1990s by developer Del Webb, the country’s leading builder of active adult communities. Springfield Resort amenities include access to the 18-hole par 71 executive golf course at Lone Tree, as well as sports courts, a lap pool and lounge pool, fitness center, recreation rooms, golf club restaurant, and more. Springfield Resort is convenient to Chandler’s popular shopping malls, restaurants, and state-of-the-art medical facilities.
5. San Marcos Country Club Estates.Built in 1912, San Marcos Golf Resort is Arizona’s first golf course and features lavish courtyards, elegant ballrooms, and exceptional dining and shopping. The 18-hole, 6,626-yard course boasts stunning emerald scenery that gives golfers a break from desert course landscaping common on other courses. Homes in San Marcos Country Club Estates boast some of the most exclusive addresses in Chandler. These homes are also more expensive and can easily range well over $500,000.
