Currently home to approximately 269,123 people, Chandler has grown in leaps and bounds over the past several decades - ranking among the fastest-growing municipalities in the country. The Price Corridor, Chandler’s largest employment corridor, is currently home to 15 Fortune 500 companies. The largest employer in Chandler is Intel Corp., with 2 campuses in the city. Intel recently announced that it was expanding its manufacturing capacity with plans for two new factories located at the company’s Chandler-Ocotillo campus. This build-out represents an investment of approximately $20 billion, which is expected to create over 3,000 permanent high-tech, high-wage jobs; over 3,000 construction jobs; and approximately 15,000 local long-term jobs in Chandler. “We are setting a course for a new era of innovation and product leadership at Intel,” said CEO Pat Gelsinger in a speech recently broadcast to the Chandler complex. "Hundreds of local companies stand to benefit from our announcement today," Gelsinger said, adding that planning and construction will start immediately.
Other top employers in Chandler (listed in order by # of employees) include Bank of America, Chandler School District, Wells Fargo Ocotillo Corporate Campus, Chandler Regional Medical Center, eBay, Paypal, Verizon Wireless, City of Chandler, Microchip Technology, Freescale Semiconductor, Northrop Grumman. Bashas’ Distribution Center / Corp HQ, Education Management Corp. (EDMC), Avnet, and Rogers Corp., and many other great companies. As part of the larger Phoenix metro area, residents of Chandler can also easily commute to nearby cities (Mesa, Tempe, and Phoenix) for work. Loop 202 can get you into downtown Phoenix and to the Sky Harbor International Airport within 25 minutes and Loop 101 makes the drive to Tempe/Scottsdale accessible.
Downtown Chandler

Most of Chandler is served by the A-rated Chandler Unified School District (CUSD) (grades K-12). Students living west of Loop 101 attend top-rated schools in the highly-regarded Kyrene and Tempe Union High School District. CUSD schools have been named ‘Arizona A+ Schools of Excellence’ or ‘U.S. Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence’ 86 times since 1983, the most of any district in Arizona. With test scores that exceed state and national averages, CUSD includes 11 of the top 100 highest-ranked schools in Arizona. Parents can choose from personalized learning experiences that meet the needs of their children including self-contained gifted programs (Chandler Academically Talented Students); traditional academies; honors classes and advanced placement courses; and the International Baccalaureate Program.
As part of Arizona School Choice, students can apply for admission to any public school of their choice, based on available classroom space. Post-secondary education in Chandler includes the two-year Chandler-Gilbert Community College located near the Chandler/Gilbert border, and International Baptist College. Arizona State University is also located in nearby Tempe.

Chandler Fashion Center, the 2nd largest mall in Arizona, features over 180 retail shops. This premier shopping destination has four department stores: Macy’s, Sears, Dillard’s, and Nordstrom, many high-end brand stores like Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Michael Kors, and Sephora along with great restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. Transportation & Travel
Valley Metro operates a daily bus service with an extensive list of routes traveling throughout the Phoenix metro area. Several of the Chandler routes make connections to the METRO light rail traveling in Phoenix, Tempe, and Mesa. Main thoroughfares include Arizona Avenue, also known as State Route 87, which runs north-south through Chandler and connects to Mesa in the north and I-10 south of the city. Commonwealth Avenue, also known as State Route 202, runs east-west. Taking 202 west will connect you to I-10 and then either north to Phoenix or south to Tucson.
The Chandler Municipal Airport is a two-runway general aviation facility located in the heart of the city, south of Loop 202. The Stellar Airpark is a privately owned airport that is open to the public, located in western Chandler. The nearest commercial airport is Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport located about 10 miles to the east in South Mesa. For international and regional travel, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport is about a 20-mile drive from downtown Chandler.
