Chandler  

Located about 22 miles southeast of Phoenix, Chandler is a city suburb that’s both cosmopolitan and family-friendly. Home to nearly 258,000 people, Chandler is a diverse and affluent community situated in one of the fastest-growing innovation and technology hubs in the U.S. In the 1980s, Chandler’s agriculture-based economy shifted to technology when Intel Corporation began its operations here. Chandler's innovative technology base and excellent educational facilities provide the foundation for a comfortable lifestyle. The largest employer in Chandler is Intel Corporation with 2 campuses. Chandler is home to a vibrant and historic downtown, exciting cultural and recreation options, fabulous shopping (Chandler Fashion Center) and fine dining destinations, an excellent school system, over 60 parks and outdoor activities that can be enjoyed year-round, and several top-rated golf courses. Most of Chandler is served by the nationally recognized, A-rated Chandler Unified School District. CUSD schools have been named Arizona A+ Schools of Excellence or U.S. Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence 86 times since 1983. In August 2021, Chandler home prices were up 23.2% compared to last year, selling for a median price of $468K. On average, homes in Chandler sell after 21 days on the market compared to 32 days last year. There were 425 homes sold in August this year, down from 442 last year. 

Sun Lakes

Located about 24.7 miles southeast of Phoenix, Sun Lakes is a fabulous master-planned retirement community for active adults (40-plus years) featuring a vast array of resort-like amenities. The development has five distinct communities, each with its own golf course and clubhouse/activities center: Sun Lakes #1 (the original community (gated), Palo Verde (gated), Cottonwood (non-gated), Ironwood (gated), and Oakwood (gated). Residents of Sun Lakes have access to five golf courses, driving ranges, heated community pools, spas, tennis & pickleball courts, fitness facilities, arts & crafts centers, restaurants, cafes, stocked fishing lakes, miles of scenic walking paths, dozens of clubs, and planned events along with nearby shopping plazas, restaurants, a community college campus, public library, health care providers, and more. In August 2021, Sun Lakes home prices were up 26.8% compared to last year, selling for a median price of $450K. Gilbert 

The town of Gilbert is located in Maricopa County about 22 miles southeast of Phoenix.  Thriving in business and leisure activities, Gilbert has a vibrant Heritage District, great shopping (SanTan Village), a notable foodie scene, an excellent school system, numerous parks & outdoor recreation opportunities, and some of the best golf clubs in the valley. A youthful and vibrant community, the median age of Gilbert residents is 33.8 years with 67.6 percent of the population under the age of 45. The town's access to an educated and diverse workforce, a pipeline of emerging technologies from statewide universities, ease of market access, and quality living attracts worldwide companies to the area. Top employers in Gilbert include GoDaddy, B H Drywall, Banner Health, Isagenix International, Northrop Grumman, Silent-Aire, Morgan Stanely, Merrill Lynch, and Deloitte, among other great companies. Most of  Gilbert is served by the highly-rated Gilbert Unified School District also known as Gilbert Public Schools (GPS). Queen Creek

The town of Queen Creek is located in Maricopa County, with a small portion extending into Pinal County. Home to around 51,800 people, Queen Creek residents enjoy the benefits of small-town living close to a metropolitan area, with easy commuting to and from metro Phoenix, great schools, an abundance of recreational activities, and a low-stress lifestyle. On average, homes in Queen Creek sell after 17 days on the market compared to 35 days last year. There were 186 homes sold in August this year, down from 237 last year. 

San Tan Valley

The bedroom community of San Tan Valley is bounded by the San Tan Mountains Regional Park on the west and the Gila River Indian Community on the southwest, with a population of around 99,894 (2020). San Tan Valley was named after the nearby San Tan Mountain Regional Park with more than10,000 acres of rugged wilderness and peaks that reach up to 2,500 feet. San Tan Valley consists largely of master-planned communities and offers the best of both worlds: Convenient access to city amenities and a laid-back, small-town lifestyle that makes the most of its scenic, Sonoran Desert surroundings. Residents enjoy easy access to top-rated golf courses, parks, trails, and other outdoor activities, while also being close to grocery stores, big box stores, restaurants, and everyday conveniences. Students attend top-rated schools in the JO Combs Unified School District. In August 2021, San Tan Valley home prices were up 41.4% compared to last year, selling for a median price of $382K. Mesa

Mesa is a city suburb located about 20 miles east of Phoenix. Home to around 538,146 people, Mesa is the third-largest city in Arizona. The Polytechnic campus of Arizona State University is located in Mesa as well as the largest relief airport in the Phoenix area - Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. Mesa has a rich cultural heritage and is currently experiencing tremendous economic growth due to the expansion of the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport attracting many new businesses to the area. Mesa is currently home to major companies like Apple, Bridgestone, FUJIFILM, Mitsubishi, and Boeing, among others. With a thriving downtown, exciting local culture, great shopping and restaurants, an excellent school system, numerous sports facilities, Cactus League spring training baseball, popular annual events and festivals, and top-rated golf clubs, Mesa is a great place to settle down and buy a home. Tempe

The city of Tempe was named after the Vale of Tempe in Greece, a gorge in the Tempi municipality of northern Thessaly, Greece. Home to approximately 195,805 people, Tempe is bordered by Phoenix and Guadalupe on the west, Scottsdale and the Salt River Pima–Maricopa Indian Community on the north, Chandler on the south, and Mesa on the east.  Top employers in Tempe include Arizona State University, State Farm Insurance, Freedom Financial Network, JPMorgan Chase Bank National Association, ABM Industries, Wells Fargo, City of Tempe, SRP, Honeywell, and Insight Direct Inc. Tempe has a lively downtown brimming with restaurants, stores, galleries, clubs, and nightlife and is also home to the main campus of Arizona State University. For parents with school-age children, Tempe offers outstanding education choices from preschool to graduate school. The city is served by three highly regarded public school districts: Tempe Elementary School District, Kyrene School District, and Tempe Union High School District. Ahwatukee

Ahwatukee is the southernmost village of Phoenix, known for its rugged natural beauty, picturesque mountain views, and charming small-town feel. Ahwatukee is situated at the base of South Mountain Park and Preserve, stretching along its northern border. With a population of around 83,665 (2020), Ahwatukee offers easy access to outdoor activities like hiking biking, and horseback riding in South Mountain Park, great shopping and dining options, several top-rated golf courses, and close proximity to major employment hubs. The community is served by the highly-acclaimed, A-rated Kyrene School District (Pre-K through 8th grade), one of the top-performing school districts in the state. All 25 schools in the district have received excelling or high-performing ratings. In August 2021, Ahwatukee home prices were up 40.4%, compared to last year, selling for a median price of $456K. On average, homes in Ahwatukee sell after 21 days on the market.

Scottsdale  

The city of Scottsdale is located in Maricopa County and has a population of around 265,249 (2020).   Scottsdale’s exciting art and culture, world-class resorts and spas, premier shopping and restaurants, exciting nightlife, popular annual events, over 50 top-rated golf courses, and scenic hiking trails make it a great place to live. Most of Scottsdale’s workforce is in the tourism industry. The city has one of the highest numbers of AAA Five-Diamond hotels and resorts in the country and is home to many renowned spas and resorts including the Four Seasons Scottsdale and Canyon Suites. A large portion of Scottsdale Road in the Shea Corridor has been dubbed the "Resort Corridor" due to the many upscale resorts that line the street. Top employers in Scottsdale include Honor Health, CVS Health, Scottsdale Unified School District, Vanguard, and the City of Scottsdale. One of the largest employment centers in Scottsdale and in the state is Scottsdale Airpark, anchored by the Scottsdale Airport. The Airpark encompasses 8.6 square miles and includes over 2,900 businesses that employ more than 51,000 people.  Scottsdale is served by the nationally-acclaimed Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD), ranked among the top school districts in the country. In August 2021, Scottsdale home prices were up 26.1% compared to last year, selling for a median price of $718K. On average, homes in Scottsdale sell after 35 days on the market compared to 51 days last year. There were 770 homes sold in August this year, down from 888 last year. 

Schools and Education

Phoenix is home to several award-winning school districts filled with top-rated schools. There are 458 public schools serving 253,554 students in Phoenix. There are 30 school districts with more than 200 charter schools and a number of top-rated private schools. Under Arizona’s open-enrollment law, children can attend other schools within the district or in another district by applying to that school, so families can be confident their child is receiving the best education possible. Phoenix has one of the highest concentrations of top-ranked public schools in Arizona. The 3 highest ranked public schools in Phoenix include Phoenix Union Bioscience High School, Great Hearts Academies - Archway Scottsdale, and Basis Phoenix.
